Palworld devs are gearing up for the game’s early access launch. As part of the build-up, they’ve gone out of their way to assuage any fears by stating the game is definitely not a scam. Just in case you were worried.
Palworld is so close we can taste the Lamball kebabs. It heads into early access in a matter of days with this early version promising over 100 Pals to collect and tame.
The game’s unique blend of creature collection, survival, and crafting mechanics have prospective players referring to the game as ‘Pokemon with guns’. Palworld definitely has creatures like Pokemon, and some of them do have guns, but there’s a bit more going on than that.
Now that Palworld is nearly here, Pocketpair has updated the game’s Steam page with an oddly defensive change to the Q&A section. Devs have gone out of their way to communicate to prospective players that there’s no funny business going on.
“Is this game a scam? Or is it a money-making MMO or virtual currency game?” Pocketpair asked themselves in imitation of someone who might wonder. “It is not a scam, and will definitely be released on January 19,” it responded.
“Palworld is a typical Steam game, you buy it once and it is yours forever,” it continued. This might seem like a weird thing to qualify but they’re likely expressing confidence that the game performs well enough not to get taken down like a certain zombie survival game.

It might appear a little preemptive on Pocketpair’s part but when the game was initially revealed, there were some accusations that it was a scam or misrepresented. Something about forcing adorable creatures onto production lines so you could craft munitions to shoot more adorable creatures looked too good to be true.
Earlier footage of Palworld did call to mind those ‘totally legit’ mobile games that use footage from Final Fantasy games in their social media ads. We can understand why Pocketpair may have felt a little self-conscious.
The good news is, Palworld is 100% legit. Multiple publications and content creators have received early copies and the footage floating around the internet shows that the game is everything it promised to be.
Microsoft acquiring the game for Xbox Game Pass also doesn’t hurt its legitimacy. You can play Palworld on Steam and Xbox Game Pass when early access begins on January 19.
