Nintendo surprised fans by revealing a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase and an Indie World that aired back-to-back on August 27, 2024.

As the Switch nears the end of its lifespan and the inevitable launch of its successor draws ever closer, third-party studios and indie developers will be largely responsible for supporting the console over the next few years. Unsurprisingly then, they got a combined event.

Here are the biggest announcements and trailers from Nintendo’s dual showcase.

Indie World Showcase

Nintendo started the show with the Indie World Showcase, featuring various indie game announcements from developers across the globe.

Coffee Talk Tokyo

Indonesian developer Toge Productions announced a new Coffee Talk game, this time set in Japan. The new title looks to continue the style of the previous games in the series, being a visual novel in which players control a barista in a fantasy version of a real-world city.

Coffee Talk Toyko will be released in 2025.

Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker DLC

DLC for Sea of Stars was announced during the Indie World. Originally a Kickstarter stretch goal, it see the party helping the mysterious Watchmaker.

Throes of the Watchmaker releases in Spring 2025.

Peglin

The pachinko-inspired roguelike Peglin is coming to Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive today. In it, players must battle foes using bouncing pegs and orbs, with various classes, abilities, and power-ups impacting gameplay.

Pizza Tower

The Indie World portion of the show ended with the reveal of a Pizza Tower port for Nintendo Switch. The Wario Land-inspired platformer will be available later today.

Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase

The second half of the presentation features announcements from third parties regarding games coming to Nintendo Switch.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2

A new Capcom Fighting Collection was announced during the Direct. It includes games like Capcom VS SNK 1 & 2, Rival Schools, and more. Like other similar collections, it includes a digital museum with art, music, and more.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will release in 2025.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake got a release date: November 14, 2024. The trailer also revealed new features like character customization and a new Monster Wrangler vocation.

Castlevania Dominus Collection

A collection of Castlevania games originally released on the Nintendo DS are coming to Switch. This includes Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. Castlevania Dominus Collection releases today.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

A new Rune Factory game was announced during the Partner Showcase. Guardians of Azuma is a “fresh take” on the series that looks bigger and more dramatic than previous games. In it, players control an Earth Dancer who uses the spiritual powers of nature to revitalize the land.

Of course, since this is Rune Factory, there’s also a relationship-building element that includes romance and marriage.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma releases in Spring 2025.

Yakuza Kiwami

Yakuza Kiwami, the remake of the original Yakuza game, is coming to Nintendo Switch. It tells the story of the original series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, who must care for Haruka, a young heiress in grave danger.

In addition to the main story, there are plenty of minigames to get distracted by like cards and batting cages.

Yakuza Kiwami releases on October 24, 2024.
