Trailer & gameplay details
Former Call of Duty devs and pro players helped create XDefiant. As such, the fast-paced FPS feels a lot like COD in many ways. The game will feature 14 maps and 5 game modes at launch.
Rubin, XDefiant’s Executive Producer, unveiled a roadmap with much more content scheduled in the pipeline.
In the game’s first year, Ubisoft plans on adding 4 new Factions, 12 new maps, and weapons, which will be spread across four seasons.
Every character will have access to the standard assortment of lethal and tactical equipment and can choose their own primary and secondary weapons, along with attachments to complete their loadout. You’ll even be able to tweak it on the fly after respawning.
However, unique abilities also charge over time. From Echelon’s Digital Ghillie Suit which makes them nearly invisible to Libertad’s BioVida Boost which self-heals itself, various classes have access to their own set of tools that will continue to recharge over time and you can use them several times in a single match.
Utilities like grenades or flashes won’t charge over time. You will only get another batch of gadgets only after getting eliminated.
XDefiant will also feature a 4v4 Ranked game mode. It’s an upcoming feature and at launch, the playlist is only limited to 4v4 versions of Domination, Occupy, Escort, and Zone Control.
