To the chagrin of fans, Sucker Punch Productions revealed it currently has no plans to revisit its superhero game series, InFamous.
The third and final mainline InFamous title, Second Son, hit stores during the PS4’s launch window in early 2014. While some considered it a step down from the first two entries, InFamous faithful remain as eager as ever for Sucker Punch to revisit the superpowered world.
Since late last year, rumors have circulated suggesting Sony had its sights set on returning to Sucker Punch’s Infamous and Sly Cooper IPs. These uncorroborated claims never bore any fruit, though.
Now it seems both beloved PlayStation franchises will remain on ice for quite a while longer.
Sony’s InFamous game series is still on the sidelines
Upon announcing plans to perform maintenance on InFamous 2’s user-generated content servers, Sucker Punch confirmed once and for all that InFamous and Sly Cooper projects are not in the works.

The team wrote in a blog post, “With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either.”
Understandably, the crew moved on after InFamous: Second Son, having never developed a series beyond its third entry. (Sanzaru Games produced Sly Cooper’s fourth adventure.)
Thus, while Sucker Punch kicked off the eighth console generation with a superhero adventure, the studio’s samurai-centric action game served as the PS4’s swan song.
Job postings, critical acclaim, and record-breaking sales numbers all point to said samurai game, Ghost of Tsushima, receiving a sequel. Perhaps it is the “current project” that Sucker Punch references in its aforementioned blog post.
