Big reveals at The Game Awards 2022

2023 looks to be a big year in gaming, if all the announcements at The Game Awards 2022 were anything to go by.

Rattling them off from the top: Death Stranding 2 has been confirmed and is in development, with gaming icon Hideo Kojima giving an interview on stage about what to expect. More news about Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Diablo 4, and Final Fantasy XVI was made public, just to name a few.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had arguably one of the biggest trailers of the night, with Cameron Monaghan (Cal Kestis) taking to the stage to hype things up. Horizon Forbidden West got its long awaited Burning Shores DLC, and there was more Cyberpunk 2077 news too.

There were some titles out of left field too: A new Armored Core entry is on its way, Transformers is getting a new game in Reactive, and Lofi Girl is in Rocket League now?

That’s only scratching the surface of what happened on gaming’s night of nights, which has quickly become the place to promote new releases.

The Game Awards 2022: Nominees and winners

Two games were on everyone’s lips at The Game Awards 2022: God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring. The former swept all the early night awards, including Best Action / Adventure Game, Best Score, and Best Narrative. However it was FromSoftware’s hit title, released back in February, that took home the big awards of Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, and Best Art Direction.
