Emeralds serve as a valuable resource in Disney Dreamlight Valley, but locating them can pose a challenge. Discover the best method for farming Emeralds in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Disney Dreamlight Valley holds a special place among cozy gaming enthusiasts, garnering immense popularity in recent years. Following the game‘s exit from early access in December 2023, a surge of players has embraced the captivating life-simulation adventure, complete with beloved Disney and Pixar characters.
There are a lot of helpful crafting resources you can use during your playthrough such as Clay, Iron Ore, and Softwood that are used to make furniture for your house. However, Gems are one of the trickier resources to get your hands on, with Emeralds being particularly difficult to find.
If you’re on the hunt for Emeralds in Disney Dreamlight Valley, here are the best ways to farm them in the game.
How to get Emeralds in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Like other gems, Emeralds can be found by mining rock spots, specifically those in the Forest of Valor and the Glade of Trust. Just go up to one of them with your Pickaxe equipped and take some swings at it until it breaks completely.
Keep an eye out for mining nodes with green spots in the Forest and Glade, as these are sure to contain Emeralds. Outside of that, it’s never guaranteed that you’ll get an Emerald (or any gem for that matter), so you’ll probably need to try several to get what you’re looking for.
If you haven’t unlocked all of the Valley’s biomes yet, the Forest of Valor is the cheapest location to find Emeralds as it only costs 3,000 Dreamlight to open. If you want to boost your options, you can unlock the Glade of Trust for 5,000 Dreamlight.
Once you have access to either the Forest of Valor or the Glade of Trust, you’ll need to look along the walls for tall black rocks and smash them with your pickaxe for a small chance of earning an Emerald.
What is the fastest way to get Emeralds in Dreamlight Valley?
The best way to farm Emeralds, or any other gem in the Valley, is by hanging out with a character who has the mining role. You can select a Villager’s role when you reach level 2 friendship with them or change it with a Training Manual once you’ve reached max friendship.
You can check which role you assigned to each character by looking at the Collection tab.
To hang out with a character, simply find them on the map, begin a conversation, and select the ‘hang out’ option. They’ll follow you around and boost your haul whenever you mine!

Once you have a mining companion in tow, simply travel the Forest of Valor or Glade of Trust and break rock spots. Again, spots without green gems popping out of them are not guaranteed to contain Emeralds, but these rocks do respawn after around five minutes.
Keep traveling between the Forest and Glade until you find what you need.
What can you use Emeralds for?
Emeralds are required to complete several Disney Dreamlight Valley quests. In most cases, you’ll need to gather a certain number and bring them to the quest giver, though other times you’ll have to craft an item with Emeralds first.
Here are the quests that require Emeralds:
Quest name | Description | Details |
---|---|---|
Lost in the Dark Grove | Bring 2 Emeralds to Merlin | Story quest |
A Dark Experiment | Bring 5 Emeralds to Merlin | Merlin’s level 8 Friendship Quest |
Memory Magnification | Craft the Dreamlight Magnifier | Mickey’s level 8 Friendship Quest |
Strut Your Stuff | Bring 5 Emeralds to Mirabel | Dapper WALL-E Dream Bundle quest |
The following recipes also require Emeralds:

Wooden Lamppost with Green Light | 4 Dry Wood, 1 Glass, 2 Iron Ingot, 1 Emerald |

Note that, if you need Emeralds to complete a quest or crafting recipe, it’s worth pointing out that Shiny Emeralds won’t qualify despite being much rarer.
Star Paths often contain at least one quest that involves mining for Emeralds, and Shiny gems count for these.
