Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium is an upcoming gacha that involves turn-based combat and a colorful cast of characters. Here’s all the information we’ve got about it ahead of release.

There’s no shortage of great mobile games these days, and Girls Frontline 2 is next up aiming to rival the likes of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail with its global launch. This is a turn-based tactics experience so if you want gacha elements with a different spin on gameplay, it could be ideal to check out.

Girls’ Frontline 2 release date & platforms

Girls Frontline 2 will be released on December 3, 2024. It will be available on PC and iOS / Android mobile devices.

There’s currently no news on whether it will come to console in the future but it’s important to keep in mind that the Chinese release didn’t support a console version so it’s unlikely for now.

The global release comes almost a year after the Chinese version of the game released on December 21, 2023.

Trailer

The official release trailer was shared on November 26, 2024. It shares a cinematic look at a handful of characters and the kind of enemies they’ll be fighting.

Is it free to play?

Yes, Girls’ Frontline 2 is free to play. This means you can enjoy the game without spending any money.

However, just like other F2P games, GF2 does enable players to purchase premium currency to roll on banners which will include some of the more powerful characters.

Gacha details

Girls’ Frontline 2 is a gacha game. The mechanics are similar to Genshin Impact / Honkai Star Rail, in that you can roll for new characters and weapons.

There’s also a Pity system, which means you’re guaranteed to unlock an SSR after 80 pulls. The banners that will be included at launch are:

  • Beginner Banner – Guarantees an Elite Doll within 50 pulls.
  • Standard Banner – The Beginner Banner is swapped to the Standard after the 50 Pulls. You can select the character you want on rate-up and your probability of getting them with be increased by 50%
  • Limited Character Banners – Expected to last approximately 3 or 4 weeks per character.
  • Weapon Banner – Features specific weapons.

Girls’ Frontline 2 gameplay

Girls’ Frontline 2 is a turn-based tactics game, where players use unique characters to eliminate enemies on a grid-based map.

The gameplay will be instantly familiar to fans of XCOM and Fire Emblem series, as players need to think about positioning, utilizing cover, and character abilities to take down their foes.

Grid-based combat is a key part of Girls’ Frontline 2.

A variety of weapons will be featured in combat including melee weapons, handguns, assault rifles, machine guns, and sniper rifles. Weapons also have attachments added to further enhance their performance.

Characters

A total of 6 characters (also known as Dolls) have been revealed for the Global launch of Girls’ Frontline 2 so far.

ColphineAlthough she often appears cheerful and enthusiastic, her face can sometimes take on a completely different, cold expression.The syringe in her hand – is it meant to save lives, or take them?
VepleyAn idol who shines on the unique stage, the “battlefield”! She prepares meticulously every day for her next performance – this way, she will not easily trip or bump into others again.
CheetaThis Doll with a ceaseless fountain of inspiration is Giffin’s Queen of Inventions. Undeterred by countless setbacks, her mind churns out a whirlwind of quirky, headache-inducing ideas.Yet, when the moment demands it, she always manages to come up with ingenious solutions.
