A brand new Doom mainline game was announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2024 and is called Doom: The Dark Ages. Here’s everything we know about it and the platforms you’ll be able to play it on.
After a five-year wait, the rumored Doom mainline game was finally announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2024 and is called Doom: The Dark Ages. Since the leaked FTC documents back in September 2023 revealed a mainline game in the works, Bethesda and id Software have revealed what the next game that takes Doom Slayer to a medieval age would look like.
While the reveal is still fresh and players got a look at the gameplay with the reveal trailer, here’s everything you need to know about Doom: The Dark Ages.
Doom: The Dark Ages trailer & gameplay
The official reveal trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages was announced on June 9, 2024, at Xbox Games Showcase 2024. The trailer showed 2 minutes of action-packed gameplay and started with the lines, “Before he became the hero, he was the super weapon of Gods and Kings.”
The clip followed Doom Slayer donning a fur cape and slaying demons in a medieval age where giants and dragons existed with evil kings. Doom Slayer can also be seen holding a shield, a chainsaw blade, a double-barrel shotgun, and a spiked ball chain that he slays his enemies with.
He can also be seen riding a Dragon and wearing an exo-suit to battle a demigod like Surtur from Norse mythology. The trailer consisted of trademark Doom gameplay full of metal rock music, dismemberment, ultimate takedowns, and best of all – Doom Slayer’s dragon eliminating an enemy with his fire.
