15. Galarian Slowking

Galarian Slowking movesThe Pokemon Company
Galarian Slowking has access to some pretty powerful moves.

Galarain Slowking wowed many fans upon its release in Sword & Shield’s Isle of Armor expansion. This is partly down to its dual Poison/Psychic typing, which gives this Psychic Pokemon an added layer of lethality. After all, Sludge Bomb can be particularly potent when you wish to remove physical walls from the battlefield.

The double turn hit from Future Sight and high damage from Psychic also keep Galarain Slowking competitive when going toe-to-toe with other ‘mon. Unfortunately, this Sword & Shield variant still has a sluggish 30 Speed, but its overall bulk will enable you to take a hit or two.

Its incredible Speed (120) enables Alakazam to strike first and dish out huge amounts of damage with its Special Attack (135). Unfortunately, the Generation 1 Pokemon falls short of breaking into the top five thanks to its lackluster Defense (45) and HP (55) stats.

While moves like Recover can help add to Alakazam’s survivability, there are only a few scenarios where it will be able to take a hit. Instead, you’re best off paring Alakazam with a Life Orb and focusing your opponent with deadly Psychic/Focus Blast moves.

To make matters even better, the Legendary Pokemon has a decent Speed of 85, which really isn’t that bad when you consider just how tanky Cresselia is. Consider teaching Cresselia supportive moves like Toxic and Lunar Dance to help the other pocket monsters in your party.

Deoxys Pokemon The Pokemon Company
Sometimes speed is the key to victory.

Deoxys forgoes any forms of defense and instead focuses on its lethal attack stats. The Psychic Pokemon features a  staggering 150 points in its Attack, Special Attack, and Speed stats. However, these stats become a little more even spread when opting for its Speed Forme. In fact, this Psychic-type has the second-highest speed stat (180) out of all Pokemon, which gives it the opportunity to KO squishy damage dealers.

Unlike its default option, Deoxys Speed Forme has decent Defense (90) and Special Defense (90) properties. This enables Deoxys to tank a hit before being knocked out for good. Because of its high speed, a movepool consisting of traps like Stealth Rocks and Spikes is highly recommended, while Skill Swap and Magic Coat can help upset the flow of any battle.

6. Lugia

LugiaThe Pokemon Company
Lugia can tank many a hit.

Part of the Tower duo, Lugia has been a popular pick since Gold and Silver. The Flying/Psychic-type not only sports an incredibly cool design, but it also boasts incredible defensive properties that make it an absolute nightmare to deal with. This is down to Lugia’s Multiscale ability, which reduces the damage dealt by damage-dealing moves by half when Lugia is at maximum HP.

If that wasn’t good enough, the tanky Legendary has a 106 HP stat and a staggering 154 Special Defense. Necrozma PokemonThe Pokemon Company
