Best Marvel Rivals PC settings for higher FPS

The Winter Soldier Hydra arm in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals looks great on PC, but here’s how to max out your frames per second (FPS), while compromising on visual quality as little as possible.

Marvel Rivals is a third-person arena shooter set in the Marvel Universe that lets players control over 30 characters from across the Avengers, X-Men, and other Marvel Comics. Fortunately, the game’s interface is user-friendly and simple to understand, so optimizing it for your PC should be a breeze.

Below we’ll go over the best settings on PC to make Marvel Rivals maximize frames per second.

Best settings for max FPS in Marvel Rivals

While Marvel Rivals isn’t a demanding game, even those with a high-end PC who easily surpass the recommended requirements have complained that optimization isn’t very good at launch. So, to get smoother frame rates, you will want to tweak the settings.

Although you won’t need a top-of-the-range graphics card to play at 1080p, if you are targeting 200 FPS or more, these settings should get you there without compromising on visual fidelity too much.

So, for best results, to maintain high FPS and good visibility, switch the settings to the following:

Graphics settings

  • Graphics Quality: Custom
    • You don’t need to select this – simply change the settings below and ‘Custom’ will be selected automatically.
  • Global Illumination: SSGI – Low Quality
    • Keep this low for a big FPS gain.
  • Reflection Quality: Screen Space Reflections
    • Reflections might look pretty but won’t give you any gameplay advantage.
  • Model Detail: Medium
    • This has minimal impact on FPS, and will avoid your character and the world looking ugly.
  • Post-Processing: Low
    • This will help FPS a ton, for unnoticeable hit to graphics.
  • Shadow Detail: Medium
    • You will want shadows on for any potential ‘shadow advantage’ against opponents.
  • Texture Detail: High
    • Keep this high unless you are struggling with FPS. It seriously improves visuals for a negligible FPS hit.
  • Effects Detail: Low
    • You don’t need this and it will keep FPS more stable.
  • Foliage Quality: Medium
    • Medium should strike the balance between visuals and performance here.

Display settings

  • Target Display: Primary Monitor
  • Display mode: Fullscreen
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Resolution: 1920×1080
  • Anti-Aliasing: NVIDIA DLSS
  • Super Resolution Mode: Quality
    • This is the first setting to tweak if you are struggling with low FPS. You can switch to balanced, and then performance if still struggling.
  • Super Resolution Sharpening: 80
  • Frame Generation mode: Off
  • Low Latency Mode: NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency
  • V-Sync: Off

Make sure to turn V-Sync off – this setting will limit your FPS to the refresh rate of your monitor, which will obviously cap the number of frames you are getting.

Frame Generation (with AMD’s FSR 3) does promise “higher FPS”, but often the trade-offs, such as increased latency, or frame drops, are not worth it in a fast-paced arena shooter. Frame Generation works by ‘predicting’ frames too, which means they are not always accurate. But you are welcome to try it out for yourself.

If you are struggling to achieve more than 120 FPS, then you can tweak settings such as Model Detail and Effects Detail, but it’s best to leave Shadows and Foliage at at least medium, for gameplay reasons.

Another option is to tweak the setting for Deep Level Super Sampling (DLSS). We recommend testing it at Quality, but if you still want more frames, change this to Balanced or even Performance. This may cause your game to appear slightly blurry or smudged, but should give at least a small boost to FPS.

This will ensure FPS is prioritized over graphical fidelity and that the game runs as smoothly as possible. However, those with very high-spec PCs will likely be able to enjoy the best of both worlds.
