Fortnite regularly launches brand-new seasons, each bringing a completely new theme and tons of fresh content. However, the duration for each season has proved to be similar.
Since launching in 2017, Fortnite has released five chapters and 31 individual seasons. Every new season has shaken up the Battle Royale island in a huge way, including map changes, new weapons, NPCs, and quests, as well as plenty of skin and cosmetic rewards.
However, whether a Fortnite season has just been launched or is drawing to a close, players always look forward to the next one and often wonder how long the current season will last.
So, here’s everything you need to know about the length of Fortnite seasons.
How long is a Fortnite season?
A Fortnite season lasts around 80 days or roughly three months. For example, Chapter 5 Season 4 began on August 16, 2024, and will end on November 2.

This means that exactly 78 days after Season 4’s launch date, players will be able to play the Fortnite OG Chapter 2 update. But, depending on the roadmap and planned updates, Epic may end a season later than that or earlier, which is also directly related to the season’s theme.
For instance, Fortnite Chapter 4 Season OG merely lasted a month before Chapter 5 was out. On the other hand, most of Chapter 2’s seasons were longer with Season 1 lasting for a whopping 128 days, while the first-ever Fortnite season ran for only 50 days.
However, if you’d like to check when an ongoing Fortnite Battle Royale season will end, you can do so by navigating to your Battle Pass menu and looking at the pass’ end date at the bottom left.
