Fortnite v8.10 update release date and time announced – everything we know so far

Epic Games have announced the release date and time of the v8.10 update in Fortnite Battle Royale, the first major patch since the start of Season 8.

Although the v8.01 update came out a week after the launch of Season 8, the v8.10 patch is expected to be the first full update of the season, full of new content and changes.

We’re here to make sure you’re kept up-to-date on everything we know so far about the update, including the release date and time, confirmed additions and changes, and what else to expect.

When does v8.10 go live?

The v8.10 update is set to go live on March 12 at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET / 9 AM GMT. This patch will require downtime, so matchmaking is expected to be disabled 20-25 minutes prior to the release time.

Confirmed additions and changes in v8.10

With the v8.10 patch notes coming out right around when the downtime begins, players will have to wait to see what the full contents of the new update will be.

However, Epic Games have already confirmed that a brand new vehicle called ‘The Baller’ will be added via this update.

Although not much information has been revealed about The Baller, its appearance reveals that it is a single-occupancy rolling vehicle which includes a grapple-type device that players can use to go uphill and possibly even propel themselves into the air.

Another confirmed change, although minor, will be an adjustment made to the Axetec pickaxe, which was incorrectly labeled as an Uncommon cosmetic in the Item Shop when it was priced as a Rare.

What else to expect in v8.10

Aside from the confirmed changes listed above, there are some additional things players can expect to see in this update.

For one, Epic might add the new ‘undo purchase’ button to the Item Shop, in response to many complaints about the lack of a confirmation step on cosmetics purchases.

We could also see some minor changes made to the map as Season 8 continues to progress, or Epic might decide to go all-out and add the new Sharky Shrubs location that was leaked several weeks ago.

We could also see one or more weapons and/or items get vaulted with this update, as Epic have been relatively trigger-happy when it comes to vaulting things recently.

This may or may not include any changes made to the Infantry Rifle, which has received a lot of criticism lately, with some even calling it the worst Fortnite weapon ever.

In fact, according to leaks, Epic and Legendary variants of the controversial weapon are already in development, and could be added as soon as this v8.10 patch.

There will also very likely be new cosmetic items added to game files for future release, which data-miners will likely located and leak shortly after the update goes live.
