Fortnite players are furious after Epic Games revealed that their scheduled downtime for Chapter 5 Season 2 has been extended, further delaying the launch of Myths and Mortals.
Fortnite players worldwide are trying to install the Chapter 5 Season 2 update as fast as possible to play the new season ready for when the scheduled downtime ends.
The Season 2 Myths and Mortals downtime period was only supposed to last a few hours when it was first scheduled, as players had hoped to get stuck in with playing the Greek god-themed season.
However, they have now announced that the downtime period for maintenance regarding Season 2’s update has had to be further extended by at least 8 hours.

Epic Games posted to their Fortnite Status account on Twitter/X to confirm that the downtime extension:
“Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours.
“We apologize for making everyone wait longer than usual to drop into Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale. The team is working through this as quickly as possible, and we’ll provide another update when we have more info.”

Players who have been patiently waiting to drop into the game to play the new Myths and Mortals season have flooded the comments to express their disbelief. One player stated: “8 hours is absurd,” and another added: “At least 8 hours! I don’t wanna be rude but that is so unheard of whaaat.”
Others revealed they had “stayed up all night for nothing,” and wondered “What am I going to do without Fortnite for 8 hours now?!”
Despite the majority of the Fortnite community expressing their outrage with the delays, some were less forgiving. “Take your time! We’re all excited for this new season and will have fun playing it once it’s finally out, anyways,” a player said, as Epic responded: “Heya, heya! That’s awesome! Thanks for your patience as we work on the updates!”
With Epic Games stating that the additional hours of downtime will be at least 8 hours, then this could go on for much longer than anticipated. We will be sure to update you on any progress.
