Enabling two-factor authentication not only keeps your Fortnite account safe but also opens up several perks. Here’s how to turn it on.

Fortnite accounts are highly valuable for players since they contain cosmetic items and V-Bucks that the user has accumulated with hard work over time. Some accounts that are from the early seasons of the game are deemed extremely rare and even sell on the black market for thousands of dollars.

However, most of these accounts get hacked and players lose access to all their beloved progress. To save your account from being hacked, Multi-Factor Authentication, or simply called 2FA is one security measure you should enable right away.

If you’re new to the game or haven’t enabled this feature yet, here’s how you can do it easily.

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a method of logging into your Fortnite account. It’s in the name – you need two factors; that can be a password, a special log-in code from an app, or an SMS to log in.

Having two-factor authentication means your account is more secure. If your password gets compromised, hackers will still need to get access to your SMS, email, or app authenticator to break into your account.

You need to choose one of the three available methods to enable 2FA.

Enabling Fortnite 2FA is quite a simple process. Here’s how to turn it on:

  1. Log in to your Epic Games Account and head to your account page.
  2. Click on the Password and Security Tab.
  3. Scroll all the way down until you see Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. There, click the option you want to enable: App, SMS, or Email.
  5. Fill out the prompts for each authenticator to verify your details.
  6. It’s done! Now when you sign into Epic Games, you’ll also need to access your authenticator to get a special code.

2FA might add an extra 10 seconds into logging onto Fortnite, but it’s worth the peace of mind. You can set multiple methods, in case you lose access to one. Plus, you can also set trusted devices − so you might only have to enter it once, too.
