Epic Games

Epic Games has provided details on a brand-new program that will allow content creators to gain unprecedented support from their followers.

The ‘Support-A-Creator’ program is a brand-new initiative that Epic Games has cooked up to give content creators on all platforms a chance to earn a bit of extra money.

Fortnite users will be able to select creators they wish to support from within the Item Shop in Battle Royale or the Loot tab in Save the World, which will allow the creator to receive a share of every V-Buck spent from their accounts.

Whether the supporters buy the V-Bucks themselves or earn them from various sources in game, the creators will receive the same share of the V-Bucks over the course of the event.

‘Support-A-Creator’ will kick off on October 8 and run through December 31. You can find the full FAQ on the event and details on how to sign up as a creator below:

This is a limited time event where accepted Creators will receive $5 USD (or the local currency equivalent) for every 10,000 V-Bucks spent by players who elect to support them in-game. This applies to free V-Bucks that players have earned as well as any V-Bucks they’ve purchased.

Players can choose to support a different Creator at any time. Support for a Creator lasts 14 days. After that, players can reselect the Creator or choose a new one.

To celebrate Fortnite’s first year, Epic is giving thanks to Creators during the Holiday Season.

Fans declare their support for a Creator by entering the Creator’s Epic tag via the “Support a Creator” button, found in the Item Shop in Battle Royale, or the Loot tab in Save the World.

By default, a Creator’s Epic tag is their Epic ID (display name). Creators will have the ability to change it after acceptance into the program.

The event runs from the Fortnite update coming the week of October 8th through December 31st, 2018.

This program is not available to residents in China, Iran, North Korea, or any other country where disallowed by US law or as otherwise prohibited by the Affiliate Agreement or Fortnite EULA.

Epic will reject applications from Creators who engage in toxic, discriminatory, illegal, pornographic, or fraudulent behavior, or who promote gambling, spam, or harassment.

We’ve never run a program of this scale before, so we apologize in advance for challenges along the way. Some examples could include:

  • There could be a delay in processing applications due to volume.
  • Payments could be delayed as we scale our payment processing systems or due to volume.
  • We may be required to limit enrollment based on overwhelming demand. In that case, applicants will be evaluated on a first come, first served basis.

Please expect modest results. The amount you earn scales with the number of players who choose to support you in-game. For example: If your in-game Supporters spend 50,000 V-Bucks in-game, then you would earn $25 USD.

No. Please be authentic. The most successful creators build audiences over the long term by being genuine and entertaining.
