Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah have been told they do not have to risk staying at Liverpool in the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Alexander-Arnold and Salah are both out of contract next summer and will be able to negotiate with overseas clubs from January 1 2025 if they have not penned renewals by the end of the year.

Liverpool are facing a period of uncertainty of their own, with manager Jurgen Klopp bringing an end to his nine-year stay at the club in June.

The impact Klopp’s exit could have

And former Red Glen Johnson believes Klopp’s exit could impact the decisions of Alexander-Arnold and Salah.

“It’s a really hard situation because Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah can attract interest from any club they want and they don’t have to take a risk,” Johnson told Betfred.

“I don’t believe we will see a big exodus at Liverpool this summer but put it this way, if the contract situations don’t get sorted now, which they won’t do because the players are going to want to know what’s going on, if they have a bad start to next season, then a year from now we will be discussing about them having six months left on their contracts.

“If that happens, then Liverpool will be in trouble. Let’s be real, who’s not going to take Trent Alexander-Arnold or Mo Salah on the cheap?

“I think the start of next season is going to be absolutely huge for Liverpool and these players are going to have to buy into their next manager’s vision if they’re to commit to signing a new contract at Anfield.”
