A Jimmy John’s employee threw a customer’s sandwich into the trash after the man was insistent on paying with cash.

On February 24, 2024, A video showing a Jimmy Johns employee throwing a customer’s sandwich in the trash went viral because the customer insisted on paying with cash.

Jimmy John’s employee throws customer order in trash

Due to an issue with the register, the Jimmy John’s employee told the man behind the camera that they were unable to accept cash as payment.

The workers made the sandwich, but when the man made it clear that he would only be able to pay in cash — the cashier refused to give him the sandwich.

“I’m not gonna risk my job for you,” the worker explained. “Because you can’t pay… I’m not going to do anything for you, I can’t accept cash today. I’m not going to give you a free sandwich and risk my job for you.”

The man recording went back and forth with the worker throughout the three-minute-long clip, sparking a bit of backlash from viewers in the process.

“You can really tell when someone has never had to work retail or fast food,” one user replied.

Another commented: “I won’t risk my job for you was the best line ever.”
