A since-updated trailer for Stranger of Paradise’s Trials of the Dragon King DLC Rickrolled fans; fortunately, someone managed to screen capture the accidental meme.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has provided the internet with plenty of meme material since its E3 2021 unveiling.
This is thanks in no small part to the game’s excessive use of “chaos”-related quotes. Protagonist Jack’s metal music-blasting antics have offered up their fair share of meme-worthy moments, as well.
The Final Fantasy title from Team Ninja hit store shelves earlier this year but the fun won’t soon come to an end, evidenced by the recent reveal of the Trials of the Dragon King DLC.
Stranger of Paradise DLC gets bizarre first teaser
Square Enix recently unveiled Trials of the Dragon King, DLC for the Team Ninja title that will become available to purchase across all platforms on July 20.
As spotted by game critic Alex Donaldson, the original “Watch Trailer” link for the DLC on Square Enix’s website took viewers to Rick Astley’s iconic “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video.

Those who tried watching the trailer shortly after it hit the web were, thus, Rickrolled. It didn’t take long for someone at Square Enix to realize the mistake, resulting in the Trials of the Dragon King teaser now playing on cue as intended.
Thankfully, writer and Twitter user Emmett Watkins Jr managed to capture evidence of the Rickroll before its deletion.

While Stranger of Paradise’s first expansion is unlikely to feature Rick Astley, it will introduce new weapons, jobs, explorable areas, stories, and challenges.
Notably, the Trails of the Dragon King content will launch as part of Stranger of Paradise’s Season Pass, which will also grant players access to the upcoming DLC missions – Wanderer of the Rift and Different Future.
