It’s possible to skip the Nibelheim mission in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth if you’ve already finished it in the game’s demo. Here’s exactly how to skip this section in the full release.
Final Fantasy 7’s Nibelheim mission is iconic and notorious as it’s when Sephiroth experiences a psychotic break that leads to him destroying Cloud and Tita’s beloved hometown, including the innocent people residing there. It was a huge moment in the original FF7 and fans were able to experience it prior to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth‘s launch thanks to the game‘s free demo.
If you’ve already played through the mission in its entirety when you pick up a full copy of Rebirth, you will have the handy option to skip past it. While you can replay it there isn’t any benefit to doing so, aside from if you didn’t have the chance to finish it during the demo.
So, here’s exactly how you can skip the Nibelheim mission in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Skipping the Nibelheim quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
If you’ve already played and completed the Nibelheim investigation in the FF7 Rebirth demo, then the game will allow you to skip the majority of it. Here’s what you need to do:
First of all, you’ll need to scan your PS5 hard drive so the game can see you’ve already completed it. This can be done on the main menu under ‘Bonuses’. Complete the scan and you’ll receive a pop-up telling you that the mission will now be skippable.
Those who’ve also got Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Episode Intermission on their hard drives will also get a reward.

You’ll start the game as normal, first playing through Zack’s opening segment before the action shifts to the inn at Kalm where Cloud is telling the party about Nibelheim. You’ll still need to defend the truck as Sephiroth, and then explore Nibelheim as Cloud, but once all the tutorial segments are over you’ll be given the option to skip the mission.
This skip option will appear once you’re climbing the mountain with Tifa and have killed the first few enemies. However, it only skips the Nibelheim reactor mission, you’ll still have to re-play Sephiroth’s attack on the town, but this is mostly because the demo ended midway through his confrontation with Cloud.
The good news is the skip option cuts out the majority of the flashback, meaning it’ll only take about ten minutes to get through in the full game instead of around 90.
