Twitch star Asmongold called out his FFXIV audience and threatened to stop playing the popular MMO if fans of the game continue to nitpick his broadcasts.
After a nine-month-long hiatus, Asmongold made his triumphant return to FFXIV for the first time since September 2021.
The 30-year-old streamer broadcasted the beginning of the Stormblood expansion, bringing back the Final Fantasy XIV audience that had left his stream so long ago.
Although he’s said before he loves the game, and even believes it replaced World of Warcraft as king of modern MMOs, he’s now threatening to quit the game altogether.

On July 1, Asmongold explained why his return to FFXIV wasn’t exactly the elegant comeback he envisioned.

Asmon said, “I don’t want it to be another one of the situations where my stream turns into a Final Fantasy stream. I don’t want to do that, where every post on my Reddit is about Final Fantasy, and everything else is downvoted, and whenever I’m not playing it people are mad.”
The OTK streamer called his FFXIV audience “very constraining,” and “super obnoxious.” He also blamed “trolls” for filling up his Reddit with only Final Fantasy content.

He finished with, “I would like to play the game and not have people find problems with it. Because I’ll be honest, if that keeps happening, I’ll just not play. I don’t want to deal with that. Why would I willingly sign myself up for something that’s unenjoyable?”
I know a lot of you guys want me to play x or y game
Just try to chill out a bit lol
We'll be back on Saturday with some games most likely, whether it's FF14 MSQ or the Cuphead DLC

Asmongold has hit out at FFXIV “purists” in the past who have ruined his experience with the game, and now, it seems they have returned.
It’s not exactly clear yet if Asmon will actually quit a game he genuinely enjoys playing because of the audience’s behavior, but he’s certainly being pushed to that point.
