FIFA 21 new ICONs
Eric Cantona
The Manchester United star was the first new ICON announced for FIFA 21. With a total of 143 appearances for the Red Devils during his storied career, he was even named by Pele in the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living players.
With such an impressive pedigree, we definitely expect Cantona’s cards to come with the stats to match, whether you just get the Base, or are lucky enough to grab his Prime Moments one, which has plenty of material to choose from.
Petr Cech
Next up is storied keeper Petr Cech, who was officially revealed as the second FIFA 21 ICON on August 9. Cech, who retired at the end of the 2019 season and returned to Chelsea as a technical and performance advisor, joins the legendary goalkeepers like Lev Yashin, Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van der Sar, and former rival Jens Lehman as a new ICON.
While there is no telling just yet what his ratings might be. They will, surely, come as EA reveals further details prior to the game’s full release in October.
Xavi
Revealed shortly after Petr Cech’s ICON card, Xavi will also be joining the upper echelons of Ultimate Team in FIFA 21. One of Barcelona’s most-capped players at 505 total appearances for the club, he now manages Qatari club Al Sadd in the Qatar Stars League.
As with the other ICONs Xavi’s official stats aren’t known just yet, but didn’t take long for FIFA fans to start poking fun at the midfielder, with some jokingly suggesting his Pace would only in the 70s at best, even as one of Ultimate Team’s most valuable cards.
Nemanja Vidic
A Man United legend, Nemanja Vidic was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s side that won so many Premier League titles, and other tournaments. Long time fans of the series will remember some truly exceptional cards.
While his pace may not be the highest, expect exemplary defending stats. He’s one of the very best the PL has ever seen.
Ferenc Puskás
The next confirmed ICON for FIFA 21 is Ferenc Puskas, the Hungarian legend who is considered one of the best forwards in the history of football.
You’ll probably have heard of him thanks to the Puskas award, given out alongside the Ballon D’Or for the best goal scored annually. He’s going to be an incredible card.
Ashley Cole
Ashley Cole was a Premier League winner with two London clubs, both Arsenal and Chelsea, scooping the famed Champions League prize with the latter.
He changed the game at left back in the English top flight. In FIFA 21, if you’re lucky, you can play with him too in Ultimate Team.
Phillip Lahm
World Cup winners are aplenty in the ICONs list this year, and Lahm has finally been added.

The German captain played an integral role in their 2014 World Cup win, where they beat Argentina in the final 1-0. In his career, trophies were just a routine as he scooped Bundesliga’s left, right, and center for Bayern Munich.
Bastian Schweinsteiger
Speaking of great Germans, Bastian Schweinsteiger was right up there with the very best at his peak.
Just like Lahm, he was known as a serial winner for Bayern Munich before making an entrance in the Premier League towards the end, where he signed with Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United. His famed career will always be remembered by Germany fans in the stands, but now in their favorite video game as well.
Samuel Eto’o
A pace master. Samuel Eto’o would be in behind your defence before you could even see him. Lightning fast.
To boot, he was an expert finisher and proved that during his time at Barcelona. At the Catalan giants, he picked up silverware for sport alongside the likes of Ronaldinho and Xavi, hitting top scorer in the division with 26 goals in the 05/06 season. At Barcelona, he was crowned Champions League winner twice, and even picked up the medal at fierce rivals Real Madrid earlier in his career.
Fernando Torres
El Niño was his nickname. The kid.
Fernando Torres absolutely tore it up on the world stage for Liverpool, after arriving from Atletico Madrid. His successful periods came in chunks during his career, at those two clubs he was famed, but at Chelsea was where he racked up many of his medals – including the Premier League and Champions League. He won everything in the game and soon enough we’ll be able to play with the Spaniard once again.
Davor Suker
There are plenty of Real Madrid fan favorites in the ICONs list, and Suker is just the latest to be confirmed.
The Croatian forward who dominated the Spanish top-tier in the 1990s for Sevilla and Madrid, earning his spot in this famed 100 club.
David Beckham
Unlike the other new Legend cards, David Beckham was added late – in December 2020. He has three ICON cards, as you might expect, as well as a special untradeable version players could redeem in-game for a limited time near its release.
