If you’re a Snapchat Plus user, you might have spotted the Friend Solar Systems feature, which allows users to see what position they are in their best friends’ list.

Snapchat is a popular app for chatting with friends and sharing photos or videos. If you’re an avid user, you’ve likely noticed various emojis next to your contacts’ names. These indicate your level of friendship on the app with that person.

However, if you have Snapchat+ — the platform’s paid subscription — this is taken to the next level as you’ll also have access to Friend Solar Systems. This indicates your level of friendship with someone based on a specific planet.

Here’s everything you need to know about what each of those planets means.

The meaning of each planet from the Friend Solar System on Snapchat

When clicking on someone’s profile, you may see a badge that reads either ‘friends’ or ‘best friends’ if you communicate with them regularly. The best friends badge means you are one of each other’s eight closest friends on the app.

If you have Snapchat+, clicking on this badge will allow you to see which planet you are in their Solar System. The planet’s proximity to the sun tells you how close you are to that person. So, if your friend is the sun and you are the Earth in their solar system, that makes you their third closest friend.

Keep in mind that new subscribers will first need to turn on the Solar System as it will be turned off by default. To turn it on, go to the Snapchat+ feature management page and look for the toggle. You and your friends must also have linked your Bitmojis before viewing Friend Solar Systems.

In order of planets closest to least close to the sun, here is which planet each Friendmoji represents.
