YouTuber Cody Ko’s newest video took aim at the famous ‘Hype House’ collective of TikTok stars, mocking their ‘cringe’ content, but member Avani hopes it won’t make him hate her.
The Hype House is made up of various popular TikTokkers, many of them boasting millions of followers on their accounts, including names like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae.
Avani Gregg is one of the original superstars on the app, with over 13.4 million followers at the time of writing, and is one of the founding members of the Hype House. Along with others in the group, she was featured on Entertainment Tonight – the focus of Ko’s roast.

A commentary channel, Cody Ko often picks out the cringiest online content he can find, with his most popular series called “That’s Cringe”.
In his March 16 video, which has already gone viral with almost 2 million views, he focuses on TikTok, and not for the first time. But this time, it was specifically about the Hype House. “It’s like a bunch of kids, that are big on TikTok, they rented a big house in LA, and they all film TikToks together, in the bathroom,” as he describes it.
He then proceeds to laugh at the awkward video, which also features Addison Rae and Chase Hudson, as well as Avani, although she herself doesn’t do much talking.

But, it turns out Avani is a big fan of Cody Ko already and was worried that his discovery of the Hype House might make him ‘hate’ her.
“Please don’t hate me because I’m a part of the hype house I love your videos,” Avani posted on Twitter, tagging the YouTuber.
.@codyko hi pls don’t hate me bc i’m a part of the hype house i love ur videos.

Cody was quick to respond, confirming that he “doesn’t hate anyone” and just thought the video was funny and awkward. Avani explained that it seemed to be the trend for YouTuber’s to hate on the Hype House, and thought Ko might have been jumping on the bandwagon.

In his video, Cody Ko admits that when he was known as a Vine star (the spiritual predecessor to TikTok), he actually appeared on a similar show and that it was probably just as cringeworthy.
Rather than the stars themselves, he blames the writers of the show for their decision to run the segment at all, saying it was always guaranteed to result in some level of awkwardness.
