Popular YouTuber Shane Dawson underwent mass scrutiny after a story from his older podcast circulated around the internet – and now, PewDiePie is weighing in on the issue.

YouTube king Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg discussed Shane’s ‘catastrophe’ during an episode of ‘Meme Review’ on March 21, where he poked fun at his viral apology Tweet.
“This is why, if you need help writing your apologies, just let your boy know,” Felix said of the issue, jokingly referencing his own past controversies. “I mean, this apology is 10/10, I don’t know what to say.”

While Kjellberg got a good laugh out of the apology, he went on to express some sympathy for Dawson, claiming that the YouTuber’s past humor was incredibly edgy – and even speculated that it was a means for him to vent his sexual frustrations, as he hadn’t come out as bisexual at the time.
“While a lot of people might be shocked by this, it’s obviously just Shane making a joke,” he continued. “But the fact that he says it in such a serious tone, I understand why some people think it’s real.”

A 2014 episode from Dawson’s ‘Shane and Friends’ podcast made the rounds on social media after fans discovered a clip where Shane appeared to detail a sexual experience with his cat.
According to Dawson’s story, he’d “spread” the cat’s legs and “humped” her stomach, stating that he “kept humping and humping” until he “came all over the cat.”
i didnt fuck my cat. i didnt cum on my cat. i didnt put my dick anywhere near my cat. Ive never done anything weird with my cats. I promised myself i wasnt going to make apology videos after last years thing so im just trying to be as short and honest with this as possible. (1/?)

Dawson later explained that the story was completely fabricated in a series of vehement Tweets, noting that the edgy joke was based on a “dumb awful sketch idea.”
Dawson has since become engaged to longtime boyfriend Ryland Adams, as posted to Twitter on March 19.
