PewDiePie hosts charity stream for ‘Child Rights and You’ organization – Stream and info

Popular YouTuber Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg has taken a break from campaigning to keep his spot as the most subscribed channel on YouTube to campaign for something entirely different.

For the last few weeks, PewDiePie and T-Series have been locked in a heated battle for the top spot on YouTube, with many celebrities and other YouTubers rallying to his side to hold off the Indian record label.

Having just crossed over 74 million subscribers on December 4, PewDiePie is now rallying his own following to raise money for a special cause.

Instead of his usual daily video, PewDiePie is hosting a live charity stream on December 4 to raise money for Child Rights and You, an organization founded to help underprivileged children in India.

Stream

PewDiePie originally set up the GoFundMe for this campaign on December 3 along with the message of “9-year-olds helping 9-year-olds, let’s go!” referring to the fact that he often says his subscribers are all only nine years old.

CRY was established in 1979 by Rippan Kapur and has the singular goal of helping thousands of underprivileged Indian children who have been denied basic rights.

Further, the organization has three central principles to achieve its ultimate goal:

Identifying the root causes which force families and communities to allow children to be engagedinlabour.

Addressing these underlying issues by interacting with parents, community leaders and children’s collective.

Empowering communities to demand for employment schemes, food security and access to all government provisions.

CRY

Despite the GoFundMe only being active for less than 24 hours, he has already managed to blow past his initial goal of a £150,000 with over £163,000 at the time of writing.

With no end date set on the fundraiser, there’s truly no telling how much the King of YouTube will manage to raise once it’s all said and done!
