UPDATE – January 21, 2019

Just four days after going live, MrBeast has reached his goal as his video featuring the viral Instagram Egg has become the second most liked video on YouTube. Just behind PewDiePie’s 2018 Rewind parody.

Popular YouTuber Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson is bringing the fame of the ‘Instagram egg’ to YouTube, in an attempt to make his video on the subject the second most liked upload on the platform.

YouTube king Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg currently holds the title for the most liked non-music video on the site, due to the overwhelming popularity of his YouTube Rewind 2018 rendition.

Despite this major record, MrBeast is taking things a step further by introducing the ‘Instagram egg’ into the mix, hoping that the trend will push his video to the second most liked non-music video in history.

The ‘Instagram egg’ went viral after an Instagram account by the name of ‘World Record Egg’ challenged users to surpass Kylie Jenner’s record-holding photo on the platform, which had over 18 million likes at the time of the egg’s post. Since then, the egg has surpassed Kylie’s picture by over twice that amount, now sitting at over 46 million likes.

With the egg now taking to Twitter to become the most liked Tweet, MrBeast is bent on following the trend to YouTube – with an intense series of hilarious, egg-related challenges against his friends.

Going against each other in games of spin the bottle, rock paper scissors, and ‘you laugh, you lose,’ MrBeast and company finally came down to the final victor, pelting any losers with several cartons of eggs upon their defeat.

MrBeast’s video boasted 1.4 million likes at the time this article was posted on January 16.
