The 2020 Shorty Awards are on the horizon, bringing with them a slew of high-profile nominees from all corners of the internet, including stars like Mr Beast, Jeffree Star, NICKMERCS and more.

The Shorty Awards recognizes the biggest personalities in the online entertainment space, focusing on social media outlets like Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and more.

As such, the Awards attract quite a bit of attention, and this year is no different.

With categories like Twitch Streamer and YouTuber of the Year, YouTube Comedian of the Year, Best Breakout YouTuber and more, the Shortys have already stirred up ample conversation among fans and creators alike.

YouTuber of the Year

While the 2019 Streamy Awards saw Tana Mongeau emerge the winner, the MTV starlet is not listed on the Shorty Awards’ list of top YouTube talent, instead recognizing creators like Eugenia Cooney, Jeffree Star, Nikki Tutorials, and Mr Beast.

Known for the concern that spurred online in reaction to her 2019 cosplay video, Eugenia Cooney has since made a major comeback to social media, returning from a hiatus with a documentary from Shane Dawson detailing her struggle with mental health.

Nikki Tutorials also tops the Shorty’s list of stars, having recently come out as a transgender woman, shocking YouTube’s beauty community after being blackmailed by anonymous parties.

Of course, it comes as no surprise that Mr Beast made the lineup, having also been nominated for the Streamys last year. Although names like Jake Paul chose him as his personal favorite, it looks like he’s also a strong contender to take this year’s Shortys, as even Jeffree Star threw a vote his way.

Twitch Streamer of the Year

Among social media sites dominating the web, Twitch takes the cake, featuring a slew of top-tier talent that have brought some unforgettable moments to the platform.

Gaming pro and partnered streamer Annemunition stands at the top of the category’s nominees, known for calling out toxicity in the video game community.

Twitch partner and pro gamer AnneMunition is a strong contender to take the 2020 Streamy Awards for Twitch Streamer of the Year.

OfflineTV’s LilyPichu likewise stands as a massive name on the list, as both a League of Legends player and musical broadcaster. Having recently parted ways with boyfriend Sleightlymusical, Pichu’s inclusion in the category marks a major bright spot after a highly publicized breakup.

Fortnite stars NICKMERCS and Dakotaz also made the cut, touted for their hilarious interactions with other top players in the battle royale game — not counting the fact that Dakotaz has also opted for more facecam in his future streams.

How to vote for 2020 Shorty Awards

Fans can vote for their favorite content creators on the Shorty Awards’ website, via the “Categories” tab. However, there are a myriad of categories listed in the menu, so be prepared to take your time if you plan on contributing to each one.

Fans can vote on each nominee one time per day, every day until the cutoff date of February 20, 2020.

The Shorty Awards ceremony will take place later this year, although a date has yet to be announced for the event at the time of writing.
