Despite disability claims, an Irish woman was denied an $800k settlement after the court found her able-bodied.
Kamila Grabska, 36, of County Clare, Ireland, was denied her $800k disability claim after she was seen participating in a Christmas tree-throwing contest.
Grabska, who had suffered mild injuries from a car accident a year before the 2018 competition, allegedly was unable to do daily activities as a result.
Though she was hoping to win her settlement, the court has made its final decision.
Woman denies faking her injuries
Grabska, who had to quit her job after the accident, claimed that she lost nearly $500,000 due to her neck and back pain preventing her from working.
Not only did she lose out on having financial security, but she also reportedly couldn’t physically pick up her children or do household chores.

Though she filed an injury lawsuit against her insurance agency for the 2017 accident, the judge ruled in favor of the agency when they saw photos of Grabska throwing a five-foot Christmas tree as far as she could.
According to the Irish Independent, the judge thought Grabska was able to move with ‘agility’ and proper mobility, leading them to dismiss her claim.
Though the judge was doubtful, Grabska denied faking her injuries and told the court that she was just “trying to live a normal life.”
Sure, Grabska may have won the Christmas tree-throwing contest, but she likely never thought it would have cost her so much in the end.
