Mark Rober gets Bill Gates’ verdict on Impossible burger & Beyond Meat

In an attempt to “save the world,” YouTuber Mark Rober made a plant-based burger and sausage from Impossible and Beyond Meat for none other than Bill Gates – and he had a lot to say about it.

As people become more aware of the impact of the systemic eating of meat, the growth of vegan or plant-based diets is growing constantly.

This is something that Rober wanted to investigate for a new video – and decided to take it to one of technology’s biggest innovators, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and get his opinion of companies such as Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat, who continue to innovate plant-based food.

Having taken to the labs where scientists work on perfecting their plant-based “fake” meat, Rober was taught how to create the perfect bratwurst and burger, dressed to perfection and a hardly-noticeable difference from real meat.

Then, he took his new-found knowledge to Gates, who tried some of each and seemed pretty impressed with the food but, in particular, with the technology behind the creation.

“It’s quite good,” he said after biting into his burger. “That’s quite different to what they used to make. The quality is only going to get better. The plant-based guys are not done innovating. Eventually, they claim, you won’t be able to tell the difference.”

After also trying his bratwurst, Rober decided to ask 0ne of the world’s richest men about the effect eating meat – or meat replacements – could have on the planet.

Gates explains how the agriculture sector alone accounts for more greenhouse gases than all the cars, trucks, ships and planes combined, and is a very inefficient source of energy.

Rober then explains how meat is almost a “middle-man” for humans getting their nutrients, asking if animals get all of their energy from plants – which we then consume through them – why do we not go straight to the source and try to move toward more plant-based diets?

Finally, wearing a Team Trees T-shirt in support of MrBeast’s campaign to plant more trees and contribute to nature a little more, Mark gives us some facts about the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and how it affects not only us but the entire world around us.

As one of the richest men in the world, there can’t be much that truly impresses Bill Gates – but he definitely seems interested in the future of plant-based foods.
