YouTube stars Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul tied the knot in a livestreamed Vegas wedding after just two months of publicly dating – but their fast-paced relationship had some fans wondering if their marriage was actually legit.

It wasn’t just their quick wedding that had critics buzzing about the legality of their marriage, either: comments from Mongau’s MTV special sent the internet in a tizzy, after she appeared to admit that their union was merely for views.

“Don’t get me wrong, I think a wedding is a very serious thing, but at the same time, I think Jake and I don’t take things very seriously,” Tana said of the matter. “It’s still something fun and lighthearted that we’re obviously doing for fun and for content.”

Jake Paul later addressed the issue during an episode of “The DownLow(d)” with ET Online, admitting that his marriage to Tana was not legally binding and explaining why they’d decided to forego an official certificate.

“I think that clip was taken out of context,” Paul said of Mongeau’s MTV special. “At the end of the day, yeah, it’s fun, and it was for content – but we still got married. …I think it happened so fast. I don’t think being married on paper is the same as being married in general. I don’t think paper means you’re married.”

Paul’s comments follow Mongeau’s thoughts on the subject during a “get ready with me” video on August 5, where she admitted that her union to the Team 10 co-founder wasn’t exactly legal, calling the official paperwork “unnecessary.”

“…I wanted to not do it legally,” she said of the issue. “Any wedding I have, if I have three more fucking weddings, I really wouldn’t want to do it on paper because I think that legally binding yourself to someone takes away the love.”

Despite the legal status of their marriage, it doesn’t look like these two YouTubers are faking the love – and are even willing to joke around with each other, considering Noah Cyrus’s “flirtationship” with Mongeau.

However, it doesn’t seem like Jake Paul is all that bothered by Cyrus – and with the KSI vs Logan Paul boxing rematch just two months away, he’s currently focusing on training up for what could be his first professional fight.
