YouTube boxer Jake Paul has admitted that his upcoming bout against Tommy Fury will be his biggest challenge yet after a career of fighting retired sports pros and influencers.
Jake Paul was once a premier YouTube star — but now, he’s taking on the world of professional boxing full-time.
Thus far, ‘The Problem Child’ boasts an undefeated record, with all but one victory taken by knockout.
As impressive as that might seem, not everyone is convinced that Jake deserves all the accolades of bringing boxing back into the spotlight. Throughout his career, critics have panned the star for not fighting against a “real boxer.”
For background: Paul has faced off against YouTubers Deji Olatunji and AnEsonGib, former NBA star Nate Robinson, retired Olympic mixed martial artist Ben Askren, and former UFC champ Tyron Woodley (twice).
As of yet, he has yet to face off against a fellow boxer of his caliber… but he will, come August 6, after getting British boxer Tommy Fury to agree to a match for the second time. The Love Island star infamously dropped out of their bout last year, prompting Paul to rematch Tyron Woodley instead.
A day after securing the bout, Paul uploaded a video to YouTube where he freely admitted that this would be the biggest challenge of his career.
“His entire family, all they know is to box,” he conceded. “…I’m going into their territory. I’m going to their sport.”

“Tommy’s been boxing since he was 12 years old,” he continued. “This is part of his blood. This is what he does on a daily basis.”
Paul then listed the cons of this bout — the fact that Fury is taller than him, has been boxing “four times as long” as him, has a longer reach, and has “way more ring experience.”
That being said, this definitely won’t stop Jake from bringing his A-game to the ring on August 6.
“I’m taking a very big step forward into my career,” he admitted. “I want a tough test. I want to put the MVB belt on the line for this fight.”
After attempting to schedule a bout last year, these two powerhouses are finally slated to face off in a bout that many fans feel could make or break Jake’s budding boxing career.
