TikTok has released its ‘stories’ feature that will allow users to upload images or clips that vanish after 24 hours, in a similar style to Snapchat and Instagram.

While the concept of social media ‘stories’ was an idea made popular by the app Snapchat, countless platforms have gone on to integrate the idea into their own sites since then, such as Instagram, Facebook, and more.

Even Twitter created their own version of stories called ‘Fleets,’ but the feature was eventually abandoned.

More users have now gained access to the feature.

They began testing the feature with select participants in 2021, but now it looks like they’ve rolled it out much more widely across the platform, giving more users the opportunity to try out the feature.

Now the feature is rolling out to more people, there’s a higher chance that you’ll have access to it, but if you find that you are still without the feature, you may have to wait a little longer before you’re able to try it out.

If you do now have access to the feature, adding to your TikTok story is simple.

Posting to your story is simple using the ‘Quick’ camera
  1. Launch TikTok.
  2. Open the camera using the plus button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Ensure you have selected ‘Quick’ under the pink record button, then choose to either take a picture or film a video.
  4. Once you’ve added and filters or stickers you want to use, press the white ‘Post to Story’ button to add it to your story.

To view someone’s story, go to their profile, and if their picture has a blue circle around it, you can tap it to view what they’ve posted.

It appears some stories are even popping up on people’s For You Page, so it’s not clear exactly how the feature functions in comparison to apps like Instagram just yet, but regardless people seem to be having fun trying out the new feature.
