Bookmarking an Instagram audio is an easy way to get back to a sound you’d want to use in your own content. But how do you save an audio on Instagram, and where do you find your saved audios?
Reels is one of Instagram’s most popular features, adopting a format similar to TikTok’s vertical scroll video format. This function lets you create and explore short clips, making it easy to share and discover a variety of content, from trends and challenges to how-tos and tutorials.
Like TikTok, Reels on Instagram have specific audios, some of which are popular songs, and some are original audio from videos people have uploaded to the social media app.
If you want to use audio you’ve seen on the app in a Reel of your own, bookmarking it for later is very easy — here’s how you do it.
How to save an audio on Instagram
Saving an audio from a Reel on Instagram is an easy process and only takes a few steps. Just follow these simple instructions:
- Open Instagram.
- Find a reel from which you want to save the audio.
- Click on the name of the audio at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Save icon in the top right corner of the page.

If you know of a video that uses the sound you want to find, you can search for it in the search bar or in the person’s profile page. If you know the name of the sound, you can search for that as well.
If you can’t find it, just tap the Reels button on your Instagram app and scroll until you find the audio you want to save.

When you’ve found a reel with an audio you want to save, look at the bottom of the screen and tap on either the name of the audio or the music icon just above your profile picture.

This will bring you to the audio’s page, where you’ll be able to save the audio and see other Reels using it.
Tap the save button
If you want to save the video for later, tap on the save button in the top right corner – it’s the bookmark icon.
If you want to use the audio straight away, simply tap on the “Use audio” button above the list of videos.
How to find saved sounds on Instagram
It can be a bit confusing to try to find your saved audios if you don’t know where to look. To find them, simply follow these steps:
- Go to your profile page.
- Click on the three lines in the top right.
- Tap ‘Saved.’
- Click on the Audio folder, and select the one you want to use.
- Tap ‘Use audio.’
Your saved audios will be listed in the folder, with the most recent saved appearing first. Just tap on each sound and it’ll bring you back to the audio page where you’ll be able to select it for your own content.
