Birthdays can be hard to remember, especially if you have a lot of friends and family to keep track of. Luckily, Snapchat makes it easy to remember to wish your favorite people a happy birthday.
Snapchat has designed a system where your friends’ birthdays are visible if they choose to share them. By adding your birth date in the settings, a little cake emoji appears by your name on your friends’ chat list when it’s your birthday.
There’s also a dedicated ‘Birthday Party’ feature that can be enabled, which allows you to see a birthday cake emoji next to your friends’ names on their birthday and unlocks special lenses and filters.
How to see a friend’s birthday on Snapchat
Snapchat keeps track of your friends’ birthdays for you, but unlike Facebook, you won’t receive a notification for it. Instead, the app will show a birthday cake emoji next to the friend’s name whose birthday is today.
To figure out if it’s one of your friends’ birthdays, just do as follows:
- Open Snapchat
- Tap the chat icon at the bottom of your screen to see your friend list
- If it’s one of your friends’ birthdays, a birthday cake emoji will appear next to their name
The birthday cake will help make sure you don’t forget to wish your friend a happy birthday. When you see the emoji, a new hidden birthday lens will also unlock to make your birthday message even more special.
How to check someone’s birthday on Snapchat
Although Snapchat’s user interface is straightforward, finding certain features can sometimes be a bit tricky. If you want to check your friends’ upcoming birthdays and ensure you’re always ready to wish them on their special day, here’s how to do it:

- Open Snapchat.
- Tap on a friend’s Bitmoji from the Chat screen to open their profile.
- If they’ve enabled Birthday Party, their birthday should be displayed under their name.
- Click on the birthday date to view a list of all upcoming, recent, and previous birthdays.
You can also use the search bar on top to search for a particular Snapchat friend and view their birthday.
How to see upcoming birthdays on Snapchat
Snapchat also lets users view a list of all their friends’ upcoming birthdays. This feature gives you enough time to prepare and plan the celebration.
To see the list, simply follow these steps:
- Open a conversation and tap on the user’s name at the top.
- Tap on the Birthdate of the friend under the Bitmoji icon.
- Now, you can see a list of all the upcoming birthdays on Snapchat.
But remember, you can only view the birthdays of people who have added their birthdays in their settings. So, if you can’t see someone’s special day, it’s probably because they chose not to share it.
