Disgraced Twitch star James ‘Phantoml0rd’ Varga says his swatter from 2013, who also DDoSed League of Legends, DOTA 2 and other games, is now in jail.
Before the days of Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney and the other top Twitch streamers, Phantoml0rd was top dog on the platform.
In 2016 he was a well-known streamer who would bring in tens of thousands of viewers each stream but he found himself in a lot of hot water, such as having a stake in a gambling site, that led to his account being banned.
He countered with a lawsuit against Twitch.
Before he was banned, however, he was the victim of a swatting situation led by an online hacking group called “DERP,” which also targeted game servers.
Phantoml0rd’s personal information was leaked online and it led to police showing up to his house, suspecting him of holding hostages and putting him in handcuffs before discovering there wasn’t a threat.

Fast forward to July 4, 2019, and Phantom is now saying the person responsible for the swatting has now found himself in jail, citing a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The man responsible, Austin Thompson, was sentenced to 27 months in prison on July 2 for carrying out a series of DoS (denial-of-service) attacks against multiple victims in 2013 and 2014.
Remember the time I got swatted 5 1/2 years ago? Well the guy who doxed me & who DDOSed all the game servers is in jail now: https://t.co/kq4P7YuuZL pic.twitter.com/Se5HFZPHU7

He was also ordered to pay $95,000 to Daybreak Games as a result of the attacks. Thompson is 23-years-old.
Despite not being on Twitch anymore, Phantom has still been streaming, just on YouTube instead. While he isn’t as popular as he was in his heyday on Twitch, he has managed to retain a decent following.
The events of the lawsuit between Phantom and Twitch are still ongoing.
