Audio issues in Fortnite Battle Royale

For a moment, the popular Twitch streamer might have thought that he was playing against Call of Duty players with Dead Silence, but that simply wasn’t the case.

Epic Games’ audio in Fortnite Battle Royale has long been subject to immense scrutiny for quite some time, certainly among the competitive community, and Dr Disrespect has now branded it a “terrible” problem that needs dealing with.

Dr Disrespect questions Fortnite’s audio

“What the fuck is up with this audio?” the Doc said during his livestream. “It’s terrible. It’s so fucking terrible. It’s bad” he said, after being shot by an opponent he didn’t hear coming.

Just moment later, the enemy swooped in for a second swipe at the Two-Time before eliminating him from the game with a shotgun, despite the streamer’s best efforts to protect himself with materials.

“It’s BAD! The audio is terrible. Look at this guy, you can’t even hear him. He’s a terrible gamer,” he shouted, clearly bemused by what had just happened.

Dr Disrespect and other streamers have been talking about general audio issues for quite some time, but this time he was much more specific after being eliminated.

Audio issues explained

“It sounded like he dropped onto the ground,” the Two-Time added, continuing to pile on with his criticism of the sound.

“It literally sounded like he jumped off and hit the ground, like he was on ground level, but he was three stories above me. It just didn’t make sense. The sounds are way off.”

Many members of the Twitch chat also agreed with the Doc, with some suggesting that it might have been a bug. However, based on the footage, it does appear as if the player did drop down at the time he said they were up high.

This isn’t the first time he’s made his feelings clear about Fortnite’s issues, though. Dr Disrespect has criticized not only the game’s sound problems, but has also branded its content “terrible” in the past – predicting that it would “die” in a year.

Epic Games are yet to comment about potential audio issues in the battle royale game, but many players would argue that these aren’t new problems, but instead much more long standing.

Whether or not improvements are on the way to enhance the game’s audio remains to be seen.
