Internet star Charli D’Amelio has responded to backlash from rapper Blueface, after the music artist complained of certain TikTokers failing to show up to film for a music video.
American rapper Blueface is combining the music industry with social media stars, as revealed in a series of Instagram comments in mid-February.
Having notably asked members of the famous TikTok group “Hype House” to feature in one of his music videos, Instagram page “TikTokRoom” noted that the internet celebs were nowhere to be found in the production, which prompted a scathing response from member Thomas Petruo: “Just not doing something for free.”
However, Blueface took issue with this claim, arguing that Petruo and other members of the Hype House should “get a real job if you wanna get paid.”
“Wake up every day and TikTok for free, but they wanna charge a cryp,” the rapper wrote.
“Smh I was really just tryna look out, get y’all some going in real life so maybe one day y’all can change somebody, but you not there yet.”
Blueface’s comments drew ample speculation towards other members of the TikTok squad, who took to Instagram to clarify why they’d failed to appear in the video.

Charli D’Amelio, one of TikTok’s most popular creators with over 27.9 million followers on the platform, also spoke out on the situation, claiming that she wasn’t aware she’d signed up to be part of the project.
“It was never about the money,” she explained. “We never had any further contact other than a comment. I just didn’t know any details, so we wouldn’t have known where to be or when. No disrespect meant ever.”
TikTok star Addison Rae also commented on the issue: “Wait what? I so would have been in it for free… he would be doing us a favor! I was in New York City when he filmed it. I didn’t know this is what was said, ugh.”
It looks like what Petruo claimed was a money matter was actually just an issue of miscommunication instead.
That said, there’s no telling if Blueface will look to link up with the group in the future, considering his pointed response to their “no-shows.”
