What is Stasis in Destiny 2?
Quite simply, Stasis is ice-type, elemental damage that can be inflicted upon enemies. Like Destiny 2’s other damage types, it is effective against enemies that have a weakness to it. Stasis is an extremely versatile element that can be used both offensively and defensively to great effect.

How to unlock Stasis in Destiny 2
Stasis is only available for Guardians that own the Beyond Light expansion. If you do own it, then to get your hands on Stasis, you’ll need to beat the campaign, and if you have one of each class, you’ll need to do it three times.

You’ll also be able to wield it a few times throughout the campaign to get a small taster, before getting your hands on it after the story ends.

Once you’ve finished the Destiny 2: Beyond Light campaign, the Exo Stranger will offer you a new quest called Born in Darkness.
You’ll also need to speak to the Drifter to receive a quest to earn the Salvation’s Grip grenade launcher. This weapon is capable of destroying Entropic Shards.
As you can imagine, your next step is to destroy those Entropic Shards. Use our guide to find them and follow the quest to earn a new Aspect.
All Stasis Aspects and Fragments
Guardians can customize their Stasis subclass in multiple ways, and that’s done through Aspects (class-specific) and Fragments (universal) options. These are crucial to Destiny 2 Stasis builds.
Aspects
Class | Aspect name | Effect |
Hunter | Grim Harvest | Defeating slowed or frozen combatants creates Stasis shards. These shards grant melee energy when picked up by you or your allies. |
Hunter | Shatterdive | Activate while midair to quickly descend and shatter nearby targets on impact. |
Hunter | Touch of Winter |
|
Hunter | Winter’s Shroud | Dodging slows nearby targets. |
Titan | Cryoclasm | After sprinting for a short time, enables a longer and more powerful slide. Sliding into Stasis crystals or frozen targets shatters them and any nearby frozen targets. |
Titan | Diamond Lance |
|
Titan | Howl Of The Storm | While sliding, activate your charged melee ability to launch a wave of Stasis energy forward that freezes targets and creates Stasis crystals. |
Titan | Tectonic Harvest | Shattering a Stasis crystal creates a Stasis shard. This shard grants melee energy when picked up by you or your allies. |
Warlock | Bleak Watcher | Press and hold the grenade button to convert your grenade into a Stasis turret that fires slowing projectiles at nearby targets. |
Warlock | Frostpulse | Casting your Rift generates a shockwave that freezes nearby combatants. |
Warlock | Glacial Harvest | Freezing targets creates Stasis shards around the frozen targets. Higher-tier combatants create more shards. |
Warlock | Iceflare Bolts | Shattering a frozen target spawns seekers that track and freeze other nearby targets. |
