Every so often, the Destiny 2 servers go down in order to perform scheduled maintenance or implement updates. Here’s everything you need to know about the Destiny 2 server status and if the game’s servers are currently offline.
Destiny 2 is a live-service game split up into episodes, with Episode: Revenant being the latest addition. This means the looter shooter is always receiving new content, but this comes with the downside of it being an always online game, so the servers dropping locks you out of everything it has to offer.
With the sheer number of players logging in, the game’s servers are constantly being strained, with some players being stuck in queue for hours, just waiting to get a chance to play. In these frustrating moments, it can be tricky to figure out if the issue is on your end or Bungie’s.
Lucky for you, we’ve simplified the process of finding out the Destiny 2 server status as well as when, why, and for how long the game will be offline.
Server Status
At the time of writing, Destiny 2’s servers are online following completed maintenance for Update 8.1.0.4. The servers should now stay online until November 12, 2024, when the next weekly maintenance will take place.
Error Codes and what they mean
Per Bungie’s troubleshooting guidelines, Wesasel is “an all-encompassing error message that is usually an indicator that you are experiencing a general networking issue.” Users are recommended to switch from WiFi to a wired connection if possible, even if they suspect the issue isn’t coming from their end.

Bat is another generalized error code and occurs when users are experiencing issues connecting to Destiny 2’s servers. This can be a result of server downtime when scheduled, or unforeseen instability. In the case of the October 16 downtime, it would appear the issue is server-side, as Bungie is investigating the outages.
Dexerto will continue to update this page in the event of extended server issues or downtime.
