Exotic weapons

Alethonym

Image of the Alethonym exotic grenade launcher in Destiny 2.Bungie
  • Weapon Type: Grenade Launcher
  • Element: Stasis
  • Exotic Perks: Harvester Spike, Vestigial Alchemy
  • Catalyst: One For All
  • How to get: Reach level 1 on the Premium Season Pass or Level 40 on the Free Season Pass

Alethonym is the new seasonal Exotic added in Episode Revenant. The Stasis Grenade Launcher uses primary ammo and fires Harvester Spikes that create vestiges after every final blow, which can then be collected to charge up the Exotic’s other unique perk, Vestigial Alchemy.

When fully charged, which requires 12 Vestiges, Vestigial Alchemy can be activated to make your next shot produce a guaranteed ammo brick for you and your team. Activating this perk at 50% produces a Special Brick and activating it at 100% produces a Heavy Brick. This makes it a great option in high-end content where ammo can be tricky to come by, such as when the Attrition gameplay modifier is active.

Icebreaker

The Ice Breaker exotic sniper rifle in Destiny 2.Dexerto
  • Weapon Type: Sniper Rifle
  • Element: Stasis
  • Exotic Perks: No Backpack, Ice Breaker
  • Catalyst: Icing-Breaker
  • How to get: Chance to obtain after completing the Vesper’s Host dungeon

Icebreaker returns in Destiny 2 having featured in the original game, and it’s better than ever. This Stasis Sniper Rifle automatically generates ammo whenever you defeat a combatant or get an assist with any ability or weapon.

Article continues after ad

It hasn’t just got good ammo economy though, as Icebreaker also triggers an explosion whenever an enemy is defeated, which can even turn into an Ignition if you land a precision final blow or shatter a frozen target. This allows the classic Sniper to deal incredible damage for a special weapon, as well as obliterate Champions, even in high-end activities.

Slayer’s Fang

In game model of the Slayer's Fang exotic shotgun in Destiny 2.Dexerto
  • Weapon Type: Shotgun
  • Element: Void
  • Exotic Perks: Nightsworn Sight, Heart Piercer
  • Catalyst: Repulsor Brace, Stats for All, Cascade Point, or Loose Change
  • How to get: Complete the Kell’s Fall Exotic mission

Coming in Act 3, Slayer’s Fang is an Exotic Shotgun that fires slug rounds, with these splitting apart and dealing AOE damage after hitting any target. Furthermore, this unusual weapon has the intrinsic ability to stun Overload Champions and weaken combatants, allowing you and your team to deal 15% more damage.

It isn’t available quite yet, but we already know enough about Slayer’s Fang to be confident that it will be a powerful weapon. It’s expected to offer impressive add clear while also giving some important utility to deal with Champions and make bosses more vulnerable.

Garden of Salvation’s loot table was given a complete overhaul in Revenant, with seven weapons being reprised for the first time since 2019: Accruef Redemption, Ancient Gospel, Omniscient Eye, Prophet of Doom, Reckless Oracle, Sacred Provenance, Zealot’s Reward.

New Weapon perks

Here are the six new weapon perks added in Revenant that can roll on a range of weapons either added or reprised in Season 25 onward:

  • Lone Wolf: Slightly improves aim assist, aim down sights speed, and airborne effectiveness. Increases these effects when there are no nearby allies.
  • Closing Time: Improves range, accuracy, and handling as the magazine gets lower.
  • Jolting Feedback: Dealing repeated damage with this weapon inflicts Jolt. While Amplified, Jolt is applied faster.
  • Withering Gaze: Aiming this weapon for a short period without firing grants the ability to apply void Weaken to the next target you damage. Timer resets after firing or exiting zoom.
  • Rimestealer: Destroying a Stasis Crystal or defeating a frozen enemy with this weapon grants you Frost Armor.
  • Envious Arsenal: Dealing damage with both other weapons before readying this weapon refills it from reserves.

New Weapon Origin Traits

There are three new Origin Traits added in Episode Revenant: Dark Ether Reaper, Splicer Surge, and Bray Legacy. These can be found on the seasonal weapons, reprised Season 16 weapons, and the Vesper’s Host weapons, respectively.

Here are the official in-game descriptions of each Origin Trait, outlining their effects:

  • Dark Either Reaper: Kills with this weapon periodically spawn Dark Ether charges. Charged can be detonated early with weapons fire or by coming into contact with them. Doing so refills this weapon from reserves.
  • Splicer Surge: Reloading this weapon after dealing damage grants the weapon a stacking reload speed and handling bonus until stowed.
  • Bray Legacy: Damage with this weapon generates a small amount of ability energy for the one closest to a full charge.

That’s all of the new weapons added in Episode Revenant. For more information on Bungie’s looter shooter, check out the best Exotic weapons, Xur’s location right now, the featured Dungeons & Raid, what Exotic Mission is available, and the Promo Codes you can redeem to get some free cosmetics.
