Being able to carry over progress, and play with friends no matter the platform with crossplay and cross-progression is always handy so here’s whether or not Dead By Daylight includes both features.
Dead By Daylight is available on many platforms and it can take time to find a match if you’re not already in a group. Being able to join other Survivors no matter the platform could speed things up though. If you’ve got the game on multiple devices as well, carrying over progress is ideal.
With that in mind, this is everything we know about crossplay and cross-progression in Behaviour Interactive’s spooky multiplayer game.
Does Dead By Daylight have crossplay?
Yes, Crossplay has been available in Dead By Daylight since August 2020, giving you a much wider pool of players to link up with, which can help make matchmaking feel much faster.
To enable crossplay in your game, simply follow the steps below:
- At the bottom of your screen in DBD, you’ll see a cogwheel icon with ‘Options‘ next to it. Click that.
- A window will pop up. Scroll to the very bottom of the list to the ‘Online‘ section.
- Underneath this, you’ll a setting that says ‘Crossplay‘.
- This should be enabled by default, but if it isn’t, select it.
That’s it – you’ll now be able to match up with players across the globe on a wide variety of platforms.
It’s important to note that if you’re playing Dead By Daylight on mobile, you can only join players on other Android and iOS devices, whereas console and PC players can all play together.
Cross-progression
After years of anticipation, cross-progression was finally added to Dead By Daylight on July 22, 2024, for the following platforms:
- Steam
- Epic Games Store
- Windows Store
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X|S
- Nintendo Switch
Cross-progression lets players sync their in-game progress across different devices. Any in-game currency or DLC you have will also be shared between platforms aside from Nintendo Switch.

Any content from other devices will be carried over to the hybrid console, but if you’ve purchased DLC or in-game currency on Nintendo Switch it won’t carry over.
Bearing that in mind, we’d advise buying additional DbD content on any other platform if you’re planning to use cross-progression on Switch.

How to enable cross-progression
To enable cross-progression simply follow the steps below:
- Log in or create a Behaviour account via the official website.
- Link your different platform accounts to your Behaviour Account.
- Navigate to the Dead By Daylight page on Behaviour’s website, and press the ‘enable cross-progression’ button.
- Select your platforms of choice from the pop-up menu.
- Follow the steps on the screen, and finally sync your account progress which will carry over currency and DLC.
Once this has been done cross-progression should be up and running for you!
How to add friends on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch
If you’ve got friends on other platforms that you’d like to play with, you’ll first need to make sure that you’ve got them on your Friends List.
To do so, follow these steps once in Dead By Daylight:
- In the Lobby, select either of the plus (+) icons next to your survivor or click the ‘Friends‘ icon at the bottom of your screen.
- At the top of the window that appears, you’ll see an icon of a person with a plus (+) next to it. Click that.
- Enter their player ID.
- This can be found at the top left of the window. The ID will be a name, followed by a hashtag and a string of numbers.
- Enter their ID into the search box, click the magnifying glass icon, and select ‘Invite a Friend‘ once their name appears.
