Cosplayer Kae reveals her amazing Asuka Langley cosplay for Neon Genesis Evangelionkae.cosplay/Instagram | Netflix

Cosplayer “Kae Cosplay” recently debuted a pitch-perfect Asuka Langley costume on an unsuspecting Instagram audience that will stun fans of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

This Asuka cosplay perfectly captures the look and feel of the Evangelion program’s distinctive pilot uniforms, boasting a skin-tight outfit  and even Asuka’s familiar headpiece.

While Kae claimed she wasn’t particularly confident in her wig, it captures Asuka’s long hair and red color quite well.

Asuka is a fourteen-year-old mecha pilot designated as the Second Child in the Evangelion Project, piloting the Evangelion Unit-02-02 mecha. She is one quarter Japanese, and is a native of Germany, having been raised there – though technically she is American.

She was born to an American father and a German mother, with her German language shining through in her constant cursing in German throughout the show and manga.

Evangelion and other mecha-themed shows from the earlier eras of anime enjoy a rabid fanbase that hasn’t quite had any new material that lives up to the quality of these early classics. Thankfully, streaming services like Netflix, Crunchyroll, Amazon Prime and others have picked up the slack, making these shows available for viewing so future generations can see what all the fuss was about.
