The latest issue of Batman reveals a terrifying new take on The Joker, but fans only saw King Ramses from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
The current Batman arc is doing a lot to make The Joker seem like a huge threat. The Joker: Year One isnât just retconning his past, itâs setting up where heâll go in the future.
The issue takes place across two timelines. In one flashback timeline, we learn how Joker underwent mental training similar to Batmanâs, which resulted in the alleged âThree Jokers,â in fact, revealed as multiple backup personalities similar to Zur-En-Arrh.
But the second timeline, set in the future, has unveiled perhaps the creepiest Joker design ever. Naturally, Reddit had something else in mind.
Fans compare DCâs creepiest Joker to a Courage the Cowardly Dog episode
Multiple Reddit threads popped up this week talking about The Jokerâs appearance in Batman #143.
In the story, an older Joker has taken over Gotham City in the future. The Joker is presented as an eerie, mythical figure. Heâs got a thin, emaciated build as he rises from the river, resulting in a terrifying Joker results straight out of a horror movie.
Naturally, fans only saw a Courage the Cowardly Dog character.
âReturn the slaaaaaaaaabbbâ one user chimed in on one Reddit thread.

âIf you want to stop me, Bats, you need to return the slab.â another said.
âI instantly thought of this episode of Courage! đâ one user said in another thread full of users making similar pleas to âreturn the slabâ.
The Redditors are referencing King Ramsesâ Curse, an episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog that originally aired in 2000.
The episode sees Eustace in possession of King Ramsesâ slab. Ramses appears as a ghastly figure, imploring Eustace to return the slab and terrorizing the family.
While Joker isnât asking to get a slab back, he is proving to be a terror. The story sees him having taken over Gotham City with a virus that spreads through laughter and reveals heâs even managed to infect the Bat-family.
Batman #143 is available now from DC Comics.
