The Call of Duty League’s first joint home series is next on the horizon, with OpTic Gaming and the Guerrillas set to host CDL Los Angeles.
Atlanta FaZe made history by becoming the first team in the Call of Duty League to defend their home series event. Despite missing London’s rowdy event, FaZe have propelled themselves to second in the standings — sitting just 20 points shy of Chicago’s Huntsmen.
After the Empire, Subliners and Surge were all absent at CDL Atlanta, they are all hungry to get back into the thick of the action. Fans are now looking ahead to CDL Los Angeles, to see whether OpTic Gaming and the Guerrillas can put on a show on home soil.
When is CDL Los Angeles?
The Call of Duty League heads to the City of Angels on March 7-8, for its first ever joint home series event. Taking place in the Shrine Expo Hall, six more teams will join the hosts to do battle once again.
Utilizing the same tournament-based format, the first team from each group to secure two wins will earn a direct route to the semifinals on March 8. They will be shortly followed by teams who managed to scrape through their group with two wins and one loss.
Who is attending CDL Los Angeles?
The eight teams have been split into two groups. Two from each group will make it to the single-elimination bracket, while two will be on an early flight home. Here’s how both groups weigh up.
Group A
- Los Angeles Guerrillas
- Minnesota RØKKR
- OpTic Gaming Los Angeles
- Seattle Surge
Group B
- Atlanta FaZe
- Dallas Empire
- Florida Mutineers
- New York Subliners
In Group A, things look set to get heated in the Los Angeles derby. Will Guerrillas put their stamp of authority on home turf, or will OpTic Gaming finally clear the donut currently looming over their name? After all, what better way to do so than to get one over your local rivals?

On the other side of the fence in Group B, Dallas Empire looks destined to face-off against the Atlanta FaZe. However, both teams have tough opponents to get through in their first match. The Subliners will be eager to set the tone against Empire after a week off from the action, while Mutineers will be out for revenge after a hammering in the Grand Final of CDL Atlanta.
Here are the points that are up for grabs, depending on where each team finishes after the weekend’s action is all said and done. Can Empire claim their first CDL title and join both the Huntsmen and FaZe to make it a three-horse race?
- 1st Place – 50 CDL Points
- 2nd Place – 30 CDL Points
- 3rd/4th Place – 20 CDL Points
- 5th/6th Place – 10 CDL Points
- 7th/8th Place – 0 CDL Points
