Modern Warfare leaker claims to reveal size of Warzone battle royale map

Call of Duty players are looking forward to the reveal of Modern Warfare‘s Warzone battle royale mode, which is expected to be confirmed soon, and one leaker might have shown off the size of the map ahead of schedule.

Members of the CoD community was hoping that Infinity Ward would answer their prayers by revealing a brand new BR mode for their first-person shooter game with the launch of Season 2, but it never turned out that way.

Instead, a classified mode – immediately locked and not ready for action – was instead included in the update, leaving fans chomping at the bit for more answers. Now, though, one leaker claims to have an inside scoop on the size of the map and it may surprise you.

It looks to be only a matter of time before Modern Warfare gets a Blackout-style mode.

ModernWarzone has posted a photo on social media, the official Twitter account of the Modern Warzone subreddit, comparing both the new map and that of Blackout in Black Ops 4, showing just how big the Warzone one may be in comparison to the home of Call of Duty’s first battle royale.

It’s not often that we see the same maps appear in games developed by Infinity Ward and Treyarch, although that could all be about to change according to this source.

Most battle royale games are limited to around 100 players per session, but if this is anything to go by – along with the original leak, posted in November 2019, suggesting it will have 200 players – it looks likely that CoD could be one of, if not the, biggest battle royale around.

The map doesn’t show any named locations that may be coming, although it does appear to include an extended coastline, a huge stadium-like structure to the East and even a landing strip to the North – which could be a hint towards planes joining the action. Helicopters were included in the original Blackout game mode.

Nothing has actually been confirmed for Modern Warfare’s classified mode and that’s worth noting, because leaked information isn’t always accurate and even when it is, developers tend to tweak things continuously until release anyway.

There has, however, been a teaser trailer revealed, hinting at the imminent arrival of a battle royale mode, as well as leaked gameplay and images that have been struck down by the developers.

Whether the next Call of Duty battle royale mode will be played on a larger map than Blackout or not remains to be seen, but some fans will certainly be crossing their fingers for something along those lines coming to fruition.
