Modern Warfare 3 players rejoice as time to kill is slower than MW2

A data analysist confirms that the time to kill in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is on par with Black Ops Cold War, making it much longer than MW2’s speedy TTK.

Time to kill is fairly self-explanatory in Call of Duty. It’s a metric used by players to figure out how much time it takes to kill an enemies. The exact time varies depending on the type of weapon as well as attachments.

However, each CoD title has a theme that they follow when they want to determine the pacing of the game. Some titles have added armour to the players, changed the maximum health as well as the damage each bullet does.

Each CoD game has had some variant of time to kill from the last with there typically being somewhat of a distance between sequels. It was rumored that Modern Warfare 3 would have an updated time to kill, and it seems those rumors have come true.

Modern Warfare 3’s time to kill is much longer than MW2

A YouTuber by the name of Xclusive Ace took the time to break down the time to kill from the recent CoD titles and compare it to MW3. The stats indicate Modern Warfare 3 is one of the slowest time to kill games in CoD history. Only Black Ops 4 has a slower time than MW3 which is just slightly below.

When comparing the stats between the games, MW3 is on par for being on pace with Cold War. The latest instalment in the Black Ops series released in late 2020. Vanguard and MW2 that followed Cold War were a much faster approach to a CoD title, similar to earlier versions of the game.

SMGs take roughly 270 milliseconds to complete a kill, compared to Cold War which was slightly lower. When it comes to ARs the time to kill in MW3 is roughly 310 milliseconds with Cold War’s ARs sitting at around 330.

Many players on Twitter replied to the stats with high praises and Ws all around, with one user even saying “Call of Duty is BACK.” This time to kill could change when the game officially releases on November 10, although it seems that CoD fans would prefer if the time to kill stayed at this slower pace.
