Modern Warfare 2 provided some of the most iconic maps in Call of Duty history.

After years and years of rumors, a leak from a Korean rating agency might be just the ticket that hopefuls have been waiting for – albeit, with a bit of a twist.

Picking up traction across social media on Friday, March 20, South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) appear to have dealt a classification to a work titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.

The application was filed by Blizzard Entertainment Inc. on February 26, 2020, which suggests a remastered version of the game could be closer than ever, although many will be disappointed to only see the Campaign in there, as opposed to a full remaster of the game with Campaign, Special Ops, and Multiplayer all included.

The rating agency labels the game as Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.

Of course, it’s not impossible that the campaign and multiplayer versions of the game be both rated and released separately, so while the leak only points towards a campaign remaster, it may be emblematic of much more.

Should it only be a campaign remaster, long-time fans of the franchise will no doubt be a little disappointed at the inability to play on classic maps such as Wasteland, Scrapyard, and Terminal in all their glory, but the campaign was still a solid one that players can really sink their teeth into.
