Warzone 2 is finally here, bringing with it a host of fresh new features and gameplay changes. One of these is the Modern Warfare 2 perk packages, brought into the CoD battle royale realm, but how do you change your perks in Warzone 2 and how do perks work in Warzone 2?
Perks are an all-important factor in Call of Duty gameplay and have been for more than a decade at this point. Different perks are suitable for different playstyles, allowing players to operate the map and their matches at their own pace, in the way most suited to them and the weapon they’re using.
Whether that’s zipping around the map with Double Time or using Tracker to stealthily hunt down your foes, there are certain perks that players will always gravitate toward depending on how they want to play.
However, the perks in Warzone 2 are not as simple as picking your favorite. This change inspires two questions, how do perks work in Warzone 2 and how can you change perks? We’ve got all the answers here.
How do perks work in Warzone 2
Before looking at how you can change perks in Warzone 2, it’s vital you know how the perks work. In the same way, as they work in Modern Warfare 2, you will have access to Base Perks from the beginning of the game. Then, you’ll get access to the Bonus Perks after four minutes into the game and Ultimate Perks eight minutes into Warzone 2.
The perks available in Warzone 2 are as follows:
Base Perks
- Battle Hardened: Reduce the effect of enemy flash, stun, EMP, gas grenades, and shock sticks. Immune to Snapshot grenades.
- Bomb Squad: Take reduced damage from non-Killstreak explosives. Reset fuze timers when picking up live grenades.
- Double Time: Double the duration of Tactical Sprint. Increase Crouch movement speed by 30%.
- Overkill: Carry two primary weapons.
- Scavenger: Resupply ammo and an extra plate from dead players.
- Strong Arm: Throw equipment farther and see a preview of the trajectory.
- Tracker: Enemies leave footprint trails and enemy death markers are visible. Kill markers are hidden from the enemy team.
Bonus Perks
- Cold-Blooded: Undetectable by AI targeting systems and thermal optics. Does not trigger High Alert warning. Does not highlight in enemy Tactical Cameras, Recon Drones, and Spotter Scopes.
- Fast Hands: Reload, use equipment, and swap weapons faster.
- Focus: Reduce flinch when aiming down sights and extend Hold Breath duration.
- Resupply: Start with an additional Lethal. Recharge equipment over 30 seconds.
- Spotter: Spot enemy equipment, Field Upgrades, and Killstreaks through walls. Aiming down sights highlights them for the team. Hack enemy Claymores, Proximity Mines, C4, and Trophy Systems.

- Birdseye: UAV and Radar pings reveal the enemy’s direction.
- Ghost: Undetectable by UAVs, Portable Radars, and Heartbeat Sensors.
- High Alert: Vision pulses when spotted by an enemy player outside of view.
- Quickfix: Killing players or inserting a plate immediately starts health regeneration. Capturing and holding objectives increases the player’s health regeneration rate.
- Survivor: Enemies you down get automatically pinged. You also get revived faster by allies.
Can you change your perks in Warzone 2?
At the time of writing, it is not possible to change your perk package in the battle royale game.
Instead, there are several preset perk packages for players to choose from, including two Base perks, one Bonus perk, and one Ultimate perk, just like in Modern Warfare II.
The perk packages are:
- Vanguard: Double Time, Bomb Squad, Resupply, High Alert
- Commando: Scavenger, Strong Arm, Fast Hands, High Alert
- Specter: Double Time, Tracker, Spotter, Ghost
- Scout: Scavenger, Strong Arm, Focus, Ghost
- Sentinel: Battle Hardened, Bomb Squad, Cold-Blooded, Quickfix
- Warden: Double Time, Strong Arm, Fast Hands, Quickfix
- Weapon Specialist: Overkill, Strong Arm, Spotter, Survivor
- Recon: Double Time, Tracker, Focus, Birdseye
It’s unclear at the time of writing whether this is planned to be a permanent move in Warzone 2, or if, eventually, players will be able to edit their Perk Packages just like they can in Modern Warfare 2.
There’s definitely something for everyone here, but it’s well worth trying out different Perk Packages to see what helps you play best.
