Shared Progression in Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Warzone

Activision
As a part of its integration with Warzone and Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War will have a unified progression system with both games.

According to Treyarch, Black Ops Cold War’s progression system will operate similarly to Modern Warfare and Warzone’s current system, in order to unify all three games

Players will progress through enlisted, otherwise known as military, ranks when the game launches (levels 1-55), which unlocks standard items, before transitioning to a seasonal rank once the game’s first season begins in December.

This seasonal rank is going to be shared between all three games, so you can level up the same rank, no matter which one you’re playing, allowing players to earn content faster.

When Black Ops Cold War Season 1 begins on December 10, your level in Modern Warfare and Warzone will be reset, while you keep all your already-unlocked items.

It was also reiterated that this progression system will be shared with the game’s Zombies mode, which was announced a few weeks back, meaning players will be able to unlock content across four separate modes, all at one time.

New and improved Prestige Mode

Activision
Black Ops Cold War’s unified progression system will allow players to earn content in Treyarch’s title, as well as Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Black Ops Cold War is also set to introduce a new Prestige Mode. Details on how this new mode are a bit scarce at this point in time, however, Treyarch did confirm that this unified progression system will introduce a Seasonal Prestige.

What that means is a bit unclear, however, we do know that the system is going to be similar to standard seasonal progression with some elements of standard Prestige Mode thrown in and that it’ll allow you to earn “legacy items from the world of Black Ops.”

According to the developers, playing Black Ops Cold War is the preferred way to prestige due to challenges focused on the game. In addition, progression will be unified between both the seasonal level and prestige level.

If that’s all a bit confusing, not to worry, as Treyarch has promised that a full reveal of the new Prestige system will be coming on November 6, 2020, exactly one week before the full game is set to launch.

All in all, it’s nice that Treyarch finally unveiled all these changes. Fans have been waiting for a while to hear about it all, especially whether or not the game was getting a prestige mode and now they’re no longer in the dark.
