Ryan Garcia admits being “high” in interview as Devin Haney calls him a time-waster

Haney and Garcia met in New York on TuesdayHappy Punch

Devin Haney said he will not be attending the Los Angeles leg of his press conference tour with Ryan Garcia.

Haney and Garcia are scheduled to meet in the ring in New York on April 20 and the build-up to the fight has shown there is no love lost between the pair.

The first press conference took place in New York on Tuesday, when Haney claimed he could smell alcohol on Garcia’s breath during the face-off, calling him an “alcoholic” and a “drunk”.

Second press conference due to take place in LA

The pair are scheduled to meet again in LA on Thursday but Haney said on social media that he won’t be there after Garcia joined a Space on X and claimed to be “high as f***”.

Garcia was asked by the Space host: “How do you feel about them trying to spin a narrative that you’re an alcoholic?”

And he responded by saying: “I know so many stories of top athletes in the world that do crazier sh*t than me and be the best in the world. I’m not a dry snitch, so I won’t say anything. At the end of the day… I box, smoke weed, drink… and I’m the best.”

A clearly unimpressed Haney wrote: “I’m not going to that press conference tomorrow. This dude Ryan wasting mine and everyone’s time.”

The press conference is due to start at 9pm GMT (1pm PT/4pm ET) and that’s when we’ll find out of Haney is true to his word.

During the New York conference, both men delivered confident statements about their chances on fight night.

Garcia, whose only career loss came against Gervonta Davis last year, said: “This is a big opportunity for me. I want to go for legacy and belts, Devin is in the way and I’m on my vengeance arc. I’m coming straight for his neck I promise you that.”

Haney, meanwhile, said: “This is going to be a hell of an event. We’ve seen Ryan quit before and take a knee before. On April 20th it will be no different. DAZN have put the bounty up, and on April 20th I’m capturing the bounty and coming home with the victory.”
